Catherine's New York City life (16 years) included orchestrating for ABC’s One Life to Live, music directing the CSC’s The Irresistible Rise of Arturo Ui with John Turturro, teaching children how to write operas for the Metropolitan Opera Company, playing piano for Carly Simon and having her original works performed at the Indianapolis Opera Company, American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, the Eugene O’Neill Theater, the Opera Vista’s international Opera Competition in Houston and Peabody Conservatory.
Since moving to Glens Falls, NY to raise my two kids, Catherine has created many cabarets/musicals with Laura Roth (Wild Women Blues, Wild Women Swing, Two Mrs. One Hit, etc.), composed an overture for the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra and several works in collaboration with the Hyde Collection. Her work that coincided with the Hyde Collection’s Andrew Wyeth Exhibit was a multi-media performance that included dance, film, still-shots, dramatic scenes, poetry, rap, and several singers accompanied by live musicians as well as multi-tracks created on Protools. She was also commissioned to compose a cabaret about Degas’s life as well as many pieces inspired by the Hyde Collection’s permanent art collection that was written for 4 singers and 13 instruments.
Catherine recorded a CD of Last Call, a collaborative oratorio with poet Paul Pines that she wrote for 8 singers and 5 instruments which premiered at the Wood Theater. Another current project is Holding it All, which consists of 5 settings of Bernice Mennis’s poems composed by Catherine, 5 settings by Anthime Miller and two that were composed together by Anthime and her. North Country Arts hosted a live recorded performance March 20th 2021 at the Strand Theater. A CD of this music will be available this spring.
Catherine recently retired from Lake George High School where she taught chorus, sound design, original music theater, general music and music directed musicals and performances for 20 years.
